NIKA FORTE SESAY is an Urban Farm Manager and she works with a non-profit organization. Nika digs in the dirt and plants food. Some of us learned to appreciate the smell of the dirt and the miraculous ability to lay a seed, cover it with dirt and weeks later to see the seed produce a seedling that went on to produce food. We had a familiarity with the earth. Today, what was taken for granted, has to be taught and too, many of us have forgotten that the food we see in the grocery store is produced somewhere and by someone else. Nika has not forgotten. It is her commitment to the community that has caught the eye of ARTISTS ON THE CUTTING EDGE and Nika invites volunteer minded people to join her in the garden.
